Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Latest Event Might Be Its Best So Far

Pokémon TCG Pocket Its “events” have a very strange pattern – the game seems to sit idle for a few weeks with nothing extra to do, and then three special challenges occur simultaneously. Today, it’s happening again with the launch of Genetic Apex SP Badge Event 1, joining the ongoing Bulbasaur drop event and the fantastic selection of Bulbasaur-themed events. While this is weird, this is a great time to start playing the game.

In my opinion, the Badge Event is the best of the rotation of special challenges that the Action Card Game currently offers. They focus on fighting other players in the real world rather than the game’s mediocre artificial intelligence, and their rewards are far better than standard hellish battles that only net you a small amount of experience value. The current Venus Drop event for the CPU does give you something to do, but go into it with a semi-competent fire deck and you’ll be earning all the good loot in half an hour. Badge events, named after badge-like prizes you can display on your profile, offer tastier challenges against real people, as well as decks you didn’t know about beforehand.

and pocketIn a signature ambiguity, the new event is titled “Genetic Apex SP Emblem Event 1.” If you’re thinking, “Wait a minute, I’m pretty sure this already happened,” then no, fool, you’re thinking of the “Genetic Apex Emblem Event 1” that happened in November. Don’t look stupid.

SP stands for…um…”winning streak”? Yeah, no, that doesn’t make any sense. But that’s the goal here: win multiple games in a row that’s a lot more fun than any game before. Last month’s version was just about racking up overall wins, but that’s a lot harder. and Its first prizes are also incredibly generous, awarded solely for participation!

Play once, win or lose, and you’ll earn three of the coveted hourglasses, then fight three battles and you’ll earn another three, and once you’ve completed five matches, you’ll earn a further six! For a brand new pack, that’s more than enough to play through just five times. Then there are another 12 battles ten times over! Two packs, just to hang out in the event, is far better and more painful than the challenge rewards you get by paying $10 a month for the horrendous Premium Pass. (Winning three battles leaves you with 150 Shinedust, but that’s Rubbish.)

The prizes worth gloating over are badges, of which there are four, each more grandiose than the previous one, and are awarded for winning two to five battles in a row. So having that crowned photo on your profile means earning some bragging rights.

This is a short-lived event that only lasts 7 days, so hurry up. And don’t forget to collect Bulbasaur and Magnetite cards in the current Miracle Picks event, as well as all promotional cards dropped in the ongoing Bulbasaur drop event. Wow! This is pocket I think, in the best case scenario, there could be calm again on all fronts within a week.
