PS5 Tipped to Top Switch 2 Sales in the US This Year
The PS5 is expected to outsell the Switch 2 in the US this year, even as enthusiasm for Nintendo’s new machine reaches fever pitch.
Circana Analyst Matt Piscatella says he’s expecting. The unannounced device will sell 4.3 million units in the US this year, assuming it launches in the first half of 2025. Nintendo still hasn’t officially announced the new device, despite the many leaks that have surfaced over the past few weeks.
“I have the following Nintendo hardware device, which will sell 4.3 million units in the US in 2025 (assuming it launches in the first half of the year), which would be approximately a third of all game console hardware sold in year, excluding laptops. » he wrote.
“I expect to see hardware constraints within a few months of a significant surge in demand. And the number of units sold will of course depend on production capabilities.
“I still expect PS5 to rank first in total units sold in the US for the year.”
Sony obviously has a big advantage in that its console can be bought right now, whereas we don’t know when the Switch 2 will come out. We also don’t know how much it will cost or how many units Nintendo will be able to produce.
