Samsung bringing Good Lock to Play Store, global release
Samsung’s Good Lock allows for deep customization of One UI without the need for root or any other complex mods, but the framework is limited to certain areas and can only be accessed through the Galaxy Store. This will change in 2025, though, as Samsung expands the feature with One UI 7, with Good Lock coming to the Google Play Store and all countries.
Good Lock has been around for a few years, and the feature is designed to give users more control over the software. Between modifications to the first-party Samsung launcher to being able to run any app on the Galaxy Z Flip’s cover display, it does address some of the shortcomings of Samsung’s Android skin and may even solve some real problems.
In One UI 7, Samsung will expand Good Lock to more users, as the feature will not only be expanded to “all” countries, but will also be available on the Google Play Store.
Samsung confirmed the news in forum post (through) A company representative said that Good Lock in One UI 7 “can be used in all countries/regions.” Distribution will also be available through the Google Play Store, not just through Galaxy Store.
Starting from One UI 7.0 Good Lock, Good Lock can be downloaded from the Play Store as well as the Galaxy Store, and Good Lock is available in all countries/regions. This has been a long-standing request from many customers, and we expect this will provide more convenient access for more Galaxy users.
That’s not the only big change, though, as Samsung is also redesigning the Good Lock app, explaining (translated) that “the overall composition of the main app has been changed to improve UI convenience.” The post goes on to explain that this Will include filters for specific Good Lock apps and a new My Page tab to allow users to better manage Good Lock apps. Samsung added that several Good Lock apps that are currently unavailable in One UI 7 will be updated soon.
Samsung’s Android 15 update One UI 7 is currently in beta on the Galaxy S24 series and will be released on the Galaxy S25 series later in January.
