Samsung, Google’s 2025 Phones Will Support Qi2

It was in end of 2023 when the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) provided details on Qi2 standard, and we’re getting confirmation this week from CES that more devices supporting this updated standard will be available for purchase.

The largest Android sellers in the US are fully committed to this cause: Samsung and Google. In fact, Google is working with WPC to create its own high-power wireless charging technology that will help further develop Qi2. That’s nice of them.

Both Samsung and Google have provided statements on the status of Qi2 and upcoming commitments.

Samsung: Qi2’s exceptional growth story will continue into 2025. You can expect Qi2-enabled Android devices from Samsung Galaxy devices in 2025.

Google: Google is committed to the Qi2 wireless charging standard and is expanding Qi2 penetration into Android phones and other devices. Google is helping achieve this goal by playing a leading role in the development of the upcoming Qi v2.2 standard, which includes Google’s contribution to its own high-power wireless charging technology in WPC.

As for Samsung, we expect the entire Galaxy S25 lineup to support Qi2, and the same goes for the Pixel 10 lineup. It was actually a bit surprising when it wasn’t included in the 2024 lineups. This is good news for future phone buyers.
