
Samsung is prepping a world’s first gaming monitor for CES 2025
Samsung prefaced its CES announcement with what it calls the world’s first 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor.
As LG announces everyone and everything, Samsung doesn’t wait until CES 2025 press conference to reveal his hand. The company has confirmed the availability of a new Odyssey G8 (G81SF) monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms gray-to-gray pixel response time.

We expect pretty sharp images from this monitor with a 165 pixels per inch screen. Samsung also promises a glare-free display and backlit lighting with 52 color options.
“The level of pixel density and screen smoothness gives game creators and players a new level of detail and image quality when creating and exploring realistic game worlds,” says Samsung.
Samsung also promises support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync mean your frame rates will match your games perfectly. It’s also VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, which is nice.
We’ll be looking for that booth on the Las Vegas show floor next week. It may be a first in terms of technical capabilities, but we’re excited to see this display in all its glory.

Samsung will be up against some pretty exciting-sounding competition from its compatriot LG, which is announcing its own unique technology at CES 2025.
This model is LG UltraGear Foldable OLED Gaming Monitor (Model 45GX990A)which has a 45-inch panel with 5K (5120 x 2160) resolution. You can make it completely flat, or you can bend it yourself to a bend of up to 900R. Remember: the lower the curvature number, the deeper the curve.
