Samsung showcasing massive 18.1″ foldable OLED display at CES

Samsung lowers 2025 sales target for foldable smartphonesit’s business as usual in the company’s display department. Samsung Display will be at CES 2025 in Las Vegas Demonstrate multiple advanced display technologiesincluding the world’s largest foldable OLED display, measuring 13.1 inches when folded and 18.1 inches when unfolded.One-click summary using Galaxy AI

This is an improvement in the 17.3-inch foldable OLED panel Samsung to launch in 2022although the idea behind the concept has not changed. When unfolded, the display can function as a large tablet or, if an external keyboard or mouse is connected, a monitor. When folded, it transforms into a laptop, with the upper half serving as a display and the lower half serving as a touchscreen keyboard.

For those wondering, Samsung isn’t actually producing commercial products with 17.3-inch foldable OLED panels starting in 2022, and it probably won’t launch any devices with 18.1-inch panels either. Foldable screen laptops are prohibitively expensive, and they don’t offer enough use cases to justify paying more than regular laptops.

But Samsung Display doesn’t just supply monitors to Samsung’s other divisions. The company is selling it to every manufacturer that wants it, and maybe laptop makers like Asus or Lenovo will feature an 18.1-inch foldable OLED panel in one of their products in the coming months.
