Samsung The Frame Pro vs The Frame: What’s new?
CES 2025 launched in Las Vegas, and one Samsung product that has already caught our attention is the Frame Pro TV.
The Frame is a series of Samsung TVs designed to resemble a piece of art when not in use. Featuring a stylish frame, matte display, and over 3,000 carefully curated artworks in the Samsung Art Store, The Frame has proven to be a popular choice since its first introduction to Samsung’s TV lineup in 2017.
Samsung recently announced that the Art Store will be available on more TVs than ever starting in 2025, including many Neo QLED and QLED models. However, this does not mean that the brand will stop updating the Frame line.
The company has officially unveiled its first “Pro” model, The Frame Pro. Here is its comparison with Ramk (2024).
Price
The Frame was first released in 2017 and remained part of Samsung’s TV lineup in subsequent years. The latest version of the TV (2024) starts from £999 for the 43-inch model without bezels and rises to £3,198 for the 85-inch display with Sand Gold bezels.
Samsung hasn’t announced the price of The Frame Pro yet, but it’s safe to assume that it will cost more than The Frame with its additional technologies.
The Frame Pro features a Neo QLED display.
The Frame Pro features a new Neo QLED display, a step up from the QLED display on The Frame.
According to Samsung, the improved picture quality made possible by the Neo QLED display technology will improve the picture and entertainment experience on the TV. Specifically, we can expect to see more vibrant colors, sharper contrast, and improved local dimming for deeper blacks on the display.
The Frame (2024) currently features a QLED display, and we expect the 2025 model to stick with QLED to differentiate the Frame Pro from the standard model. However, we found the image quality to be Frame (2022 model) to work well with wide and vibrant colors, although black levels were more limited than we’d like.
Frame Pro features a new AI processor
The Frame Pro is powered by the NQ4 Gen3 AI processor, which Samsung claims delivers unparalleled picture quality for image and video content.
Samsung also announced its new AI Vision A platform that offers many new AI features such as Tap to Search to learn more about the actor on screen, Live Translate to translate subtitles on your device, and Generative Wallpapers to create unique backgrounds. Vision AI will also offer on-device picture and sound optimization, as well as integration with the SmartThings ecosystem. Vision AI will be available on The Frame Pro.
The company has yet to unveil The Frame (2025), meaning there’s a chance the TV could use the same AI processor and Vision AI software enhancements. Let’s hope we see these two updates in the 2025 lineup when Samsung confirms its next generation of TVs. However, none of them are available in The Frame (2024) in their current form.
Frame Pro comes with Wireless One Connect.
The Frame Pro comes bundled with Samsung’s Wireless One Connect, a new device that allows users to store streaming devices and cables in a closet or even in another room. The set-top box then wirelessly streams the content to the TV via a Wi-Fi 7 wireless connection.
Wireless One Connect can support connections up to 10 meters away and transmit wirelessly at up to 8K, 120Hz resolution. However, the latter isn’t that important in this case, since The Frame (and presumably The Frame Pro, since Samsung hasn’t said otherwise) is limited to 4K 120Hz resolution.
Samsung hasn’t said whether The Frame (2025) will come with the new Wireless One Connect in the box, but it doesn’t currently come bundled with The Frame (2024).
Early verdict
The Frame Pro has several hardware and software improvements over the current generation The Frame (2024), although the price will likely be higher. We’ll update this comparison when Samsung shares more information about the TV.
