Samsung to add ‘AI subscription’ to Galaxy phones in 2025

According to news from CES 2025, Samsung is planning to introduce a new “AI subscription” ahead of the Galaxy S25 unveiling.

According to ETNewsSamsung’s Han Chung-hee mentioned at a CES 2025 press conference that an “AI subscription” will be coming to Galaxy devices “starting next month,” referring to February 2025, when the Galaxy S25 series is expected to go on sale . This No subscription to Galaxy AI features, @Jukanlosreve explains, but rather for hardware.

The translated quote reads:

We will connect the subscription service to Galaxy smartphones starting next month. Bollie will be launched in Korea and the US first, and we plan to provide it as a subscription service in Korea.

The subscription was mentioned next to Samsung’s “Bollie”, presumably a small translation error referring to the Ballie robot, which Samsung claims will actually hit the market this year with more AI features.

However, for Galaxy devices, the subscription will only include installments and some after-sales services, so the name “AI subscription” is misleading (though probably not definitive). The subscription is reportedly available in the US and Korea.

When Samsung introduced Galaxy AI in the Galaxy S24 series, there was an asterisk indicating Galaxy AI features. won’t be free forever. The footnote said:

Galaxy AI features will be available free of charge until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply to AI features provided by third parties.

Samsung has repeated this phrase several times, but has yet to confirm any plans to actually introduce subscriptions.

Samsung recently confirmed that the Galaxy S25 series will be officially launched on January 22 at an event taking place in San Jose, California. Following the event, pre-orders will be open, but customers will be able to place your free booking today which will unlock a $50 credit and an additional savings of up to $1,200.

Note. A previous version of this post provided a link to this subscription for Galaxy AI, not Galaxy hardware. This was due to a mistranslation of the ETNews report, which resulted in the post being briefly deleted and then rewritten to correct the error.
