Shadow Labyrinth is a twisted bloodthirsty take on Pac-Man, out in 2025

pacman We are currently working on Prince of Persia: Warrior’s Heart. That said, the Bandai Namco series is doing one of those dark, edgy iterations. It’s called Shadow Labyrinth, and it’s set to launch in 2025 and is a 2D hack-and-slash game with terrifying monster designs. But none are scarier than Pac-Man, who can transform into a giant, devouring black hole. Wakkawakkawakka can you play this?

You can’t seem to control Pac-Man in Maze of Shadows. You play as a lanky human warrior, with Pac-Man floating behind like a Chinese lantern. It seems that if you feed him, he will perform a black hole routine and devour your enemies. I can’t think of a worse way to die than to be eaten by Pac-Man. He doesn’t even chew.

Some synopsis from the developers: “As Swordsman Number Eight, awakened by a floating yellow orb called PUCK on a mysterious planet filled with the remnants of past wars, you are chosen to be an instrument of its will. To survive, you must survive as you embrace your true identity. As you pursue your goals, you will discover many secrets, eliminate your enemies, and grow from prey to apex predator.

This may not be the first “dark” Pac-Man game, but they sure tried their best. This is definitely teetering on the edge of unintentional comedy, though. Next up is Kirby, and in the gaming world, he’s so scary.
