Shadow The Hedgehog Build-A-Bears Are Getting Scalped For Ridiculous Prices

From the moment Shadow the Hedgehog appeared in the first trailer For Sonic the Hedgehog 3It seemed obvious that Sega’s anti-hero would be the main character in the sequel. But few could have predicted that this would mean that Sonic 3’s Build-a-Bear line would be disrupted by Shadow’s revival.

According to My cityShadow’s Build-a-Bear is sold out and on sale now. at ridiculous prices on eBay from $300 on the low end to $1,500 on the high end. Currently, the highest amount anyone has paid on eBay for the Shadow is just over $600. As you can see below, this is still a significant change from the other characters currently available. Note that Tails is an online exclusive, while Sonic is available both online and in stores.

Shadow has been removed from Build-a-Bear’s website, and the company reportedly has no plans to restock the character. This seems counterintuitive given the sheer demand. And the only way to cool the secondary market for Shadow Build-a-Bears is to ensure there are enough of them to meet demand.

Sonic the Hedgehog Trilogy recently exceeded $1 billion at the cash register and Sonic 4 Announced for release in 2027. Jim Carrey has already expressed interest in playing Dr. Ivo Robotnik againand presumably Keanu Reeves will return as Shadow. Late last year, Reeves reprized his role as Shadow in DLC for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack For Sonic x Shadow Generations. Meanwhile, Shadow recently received his own wireless Switch controllerand it’s much cheaper than his Build-a-Bear.
