Life isn’t getting any easier in Silos 17 and 18 as we enter episode six on Apple TV+.siloThe title is “Roadblock.” control.
Let’s start this shorter part last week Down Deepers were so annoyed by the raiders on the stairs that they shouted and chanted a garbled chorus of “let them pass” from an imposing fenced-off compartment on the 130th floor. Their regular food deliveries were deliberately delayed because they were harboring the framed Knox and Shirley. Judge Meadow dies.
At Walker’s residence, Shirley tends to Knox’s wounds while they commit to rescuing Kara, a supply supervisor who was detained and interrogated for her involvement in the Mechanical Rebellion Alliance. Knox and Shirley visited the forge, where some of his friends displayed some homemade spears, lances, clubs, and armored breastplates. It’s time to take action!
To add to their distress, Down Deeper’s current food supply is being contaminated by insiders, with their lettuce, fruit, meat and eggs laced with powdered rat poison. Shirley addresses the mechanical residents in the cafeteria and swears that they did not murder Meadows.
Led by Bernard and Lucas, the cunning IT executive is obsessed with his plan to starve his associates. In a killer line, he narrates an interesting human truth: “Only nine missed meals can society function and escape chaos.” Watching his massive video screens of angry mobs clashing with attackers, this is amusing The statement seems to have more truth to it.
Meanwhile, Sheriff Billings sent a message to his wife and arranged for a doctor to be found for Kennedy, who still had a bullet lodged in his chest. Juliet’s father, Dr. Nichols, came to Kennedy’s aid under false pretenses by crossing the barricade, past the raiders, safely extracting the offending pellet and dressing the wound.
Since the enforced barricade on the 130th floor stopped their food supply, Shirley suggested that they try to reset the barricade on the 120th floor so they could gain access to one of the lower-middle agricultural farms on the 122nd floor. Grams about Meadow’s murder, but not before they determine the condition of her beloved Carla.
In the IT department, control freak Bernard consults Lucas, who is trying to decode Salvatore Quin’s mysterious letters by moving some letters backward or forward, but it’s a stubborn problem.
Faced with a certain amount of hunger, men from deep underground took the stairs to the barricades with their handmade weapons, industrial drills and concrete-cutting saws. It was quickly established that they were up to no good! A cable and winch were used to dismantle the steel barricade, and as the raiders retreated, a large number of rebels rushed up the stairs. They reached their target level 120 and got into a tense standoff. Rick Amundsen, the powerful security chief, established and agreed to the new perimeter.
As promised in exchange for medical attention, Kennedy revealed to Billings what he knew about the outside world, including what Juliette broadcast to each computer for ten seconds before everything went black and citizens were told It’s a system reset. Only a few saw the image of the green, untarnished world outside before Bernard pulled the plug. But Kennedy mistakenly believed that this image was not a fabrication, when it clearly was.
Then, in a chilling, disturbing scene, Bernard has a frank, one-sided conversation with Judge Meadows’ corpse in the morgue. Worried that more than 140 years of stability could collapse immediately under his rule, he burst into tears and apologized for the actions he felt he had to take to restore order.
Billings finally got the truth from Walker about what Knox and Shirley had told her about the details of Judge Meadows’ frame work. He made them swear on the Covenant that it was one hundred percent true, and when they did, Billings radioed Bernard to let him know he had the fugitive. But he would not reveal their location until he ordered a thorough investigation into Meadow’s death. Bernard responds by cutting off all communications, as he now realizes that he has lost the Sheriff.
Finally, Lucas breaks through on the puzzling Quinn letter and discovers that it’s more complicated than first thought. To have a chance at cracking it, Bernard swore that Lucas would be his official shadow and mentioned that he needed to see Legacies. Before we see the secret area, we cut back to Silo 17.
In the final moments, we see Zoro find the helmet and save Juliet after she passes out. He gives her a mix of antibiotics to treat her infected arm, but he won’t give her the safety suit and helmet back until she helps him fix the underground water pump that flooded the silo!
While most of “Roadblock” takes place in Silo 18 and revolves around the conflict between Bernard’s Judicial Raiders and the Abyssalers, it’s great to visit our favorite pair of brawling survivors in Silo 17 , to remind ourselves of the interesting chemistry between these two characters on display. This installment is short, but as we advance the action into the final episodes, plot pieces are being maneuvered into what promises to be an explosive ending.
Until then, we salute the Down Deepers for their temporary victory!
