Social Security Claim: What is it?
The Social Security Statement, also known as Form SSA-1099, shows the amount of benefits you earned last year. (Noncitizens living outside the United States receive the SSA-1042S instead.) This statement provides beneficiaries with information they can use when filing their federal tax return.

Why do you need a benefit statement?

The SSA typically sends these reports by mail or via My Online Social Security Account during January, before the start of tax season.

US residents can obtain a replacement Form SSA-1099 by visiting their My Online Social Security Account and requested a replacement. After logging into your account, look for the link that says Replace Tax Form SSA-1099/SSA-1042. If you live outside the United States, the SSA recommends contacting your Department of Federal Benefits.
