apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said family podcast with display now won’t be available until the third quarter next year. He initially expected it to launch First half of 2024then said it had been postponed to the first half of 2025.

He said the reason for the latest delay is that software development for the new device is taking longer than expected…

HomePod with display

Rumors that Apple is developing a HomePod with some kind of display Backdated to 2022. At the time, it was thought that the device would be a speaker with a magnetic base for the iPad.

Just over a year ago we saw HomePod prototype with LCD screenour own sources confirm this is true.

Photos of one of the prototypes have now surfaced online, and we can confirm that they are from an actual prototype. Apple prototype collector is known as Little Sutami shared pictures Among the components of the HomePod that were not released this morning, interestingly, there is a large touch screen sensor on the top, which is much larger than the current HomePod panel. There’s also talk of wall-mounted monitors.

It’s unclear whether Apple is experimenting with different form factors for a single product or is planning a range of smart home hardware.

Extended to end of 2025

Guo now says The release of HomePod with a display has been delayed to the third quarter of 2025 due to software development issues.

Mass production plans for the display-equipped HomePod have been delayed multiple times. Initially forecast for 2024 (as I predicted in 2023), it was later pushed back to Q1 2025, and recently further pushed back to after WWDC 2025/Q3.

Production delays are primarily due to software development. The display-equipped HomePod is expected to feature an A18 processor, a 6-7-inch display, and support for Apple Intelligence.

Kuo said the upcoming product is part of Apple’s efforts to reposition HomePod as a smart home control center rather than a speaker.

9to5Mac’s Opinion

At this moment, it is difficult to determine What Apple plans to launch, let alone when. Given that this is the third date suggested by Guo, it is best to view this report simply as continuing evidence of: Smart home hardware It’s Apple’s focus.
