Some Educated Guesses About Trump’s Second Term
Marchman Team: What about you, Makena?
Makna Kelly: I feel like I have this folktale in my head and maybe it’s true and I need to check it out, but when Jimmy Carter came into office he saw some UFO files and cried and then he never said anything about it again .
Marchman Team: I believe I’ve heard this too.
Makna Kelly: Yeah, and not sure if it’s true or not I just tried to do some searching. To think that Trump found out about these things, I don’t know if he would release them. I won’t be optimistic.
Marchman Team: I don’t believe they’re going to release anything because he’s already president and hasn’t released anything about it. I believe that these secret documents, if declassified, will reveal that the United States covered up Lee Harvey Oswald and his relationship with the Soviet Union, fearing that a nuclear war would result if they were made public. Much of the subsequent cover-up was a cover-up of a cover-up. I believe the UFO files will show that alien biological entities crashed in New Mexico in the 1940s and led the U.S. government on a journey of discovery about the nature of the universe, including that aliens created famous religions in human history The characters serve as guides for humans on how not to harm their bodies, which are vessels for aliens to collect souls for energy. This is a theory that many UFO proponents have been proposing since at least the 1980s, and I certainly firmly believe it’s true, and maybe Donald Trump will confirm it. Makena and David, thank you so much for being here. When we get back, it’s time for our final plot of the week.
Marchman Team: welcome back Wired Politics Lab. It’s Conspiracy of the Week, the part of the show where our guests bring their favorite conspiracy theories and I’ll be the judge in Leah’s place. This week’s winner gets to brag about it forever, so I hope you both come away with something good. Makena, let’s start with you.
Makna Kelly: Yeah, I’m glad you mentioned aliens and the JFK assassination because I’m going to complete the trifecta with that. I think one of the conspiracy theories that has become popular this year is chemtrails. These are the traces left by planes as they fly through the sky, apparently spreading all these chemicals and damaging and poisoning us, when in fact it’s just water vapor. Just earlier this year, there was a hurricane in North Carolina, where there was speculation about chemtrails. Lawmakers in Tennessee passed a bill that deals with regulating chemtrails, these crazy things. But this week, oh my god, when I saw this, I lost it. A sarcastic joke is circulating online about a Lufthansa pilot who denies spraying chemtrails on his son while flying a plane. He obviously took the stands and said, “I’m not going to do this.” The chemtrail, I guess we could call it the chemtrail community, was very excited about this. This is not true, this is a joke. Yes.
