Sonic The Hedgehog 3’s Post-Credits Scenes, Explained

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 It’s out in theaters now, and like the first two films, it has a post-credits Easter egg that gives us a hint of what’s in store for the next film, which seems to be coming soon 2027. However, Sonic 3If you’re not already familiar with the Blue Blur and all of his friends (and enemies), it’s not as self-explanatory as it was in the first two movies. The end credits of the first two films felt like a natural extension of the films they came from, but Sonic the Hedgehog 3It’s a bit disorienting and may be a bit confusing for new fans. Have no fear, because we’re here to fill in the gaps and speculate on what it all means. Spoilers ahead!

The first post-credits scene is the most fulfilling of the two. The film opens with Sonic running around, seemingly racing against Tails and Knuckles, much like what was seen earlier in the film. However, the hedgehog took a wrong turn or two in his haste and ended up at a New York State Park. Man, that’s a little far from your home in Green Hills, Montana. Once there, he’s greeted by none other than Metal Sonic, the evil synthetic hero created by Dr. Eggman in the game to try to match Sonic’s speed and strength. At first, Sonic outmaneuvered Metal as the attackers tried to take him out with energy blasts from the cannons on his arms, but were then suddenly surrounded by a squadron of his robotic clones. Just as they all jump in to get him out, they are hit by a flying hammer covered in pink chaos energy, similar to Sonic’s blue and Shadow’s red. It returns to its bearer: a hooded figure who reveals herself to be a pink hedgehog before the film cuts to black.

If you’re not one of the long-time fans who might have popped into the theater at this point, the hammer-wielding vigilante is none other than Amy Rose. She originally debuted with Metal Sonic Sonic the Hedgehog CD Back in 1993, Amy was defined in most of her early appearances as Sonic’s one-sided love interest – she was obsessed with the hero, but he was too busy being the fastest hedgehog alive to think about something as trivial as romance things. However, over time, Amy has grown into a more well-rounded character and a team leader in her own right. Historically speaking, she adds some girly pop grit to her music Sonic The cast, after being a boys’ club for three movies, is something the live-action universe desperately needs.

But what are she and Metal Sonic doing in the live-action movie? Again, this scene feels very disconnected from the rest of the movie, so we only get so much in this brief exchange. Considering Sonic has been to different places than we’ve seen in the movies so far, it’s entirely possible that Amy has spent some time alone on Earth and decided to become a vigilante in New York. How she got here, where she comes from, and how she feels about more alien animals in her dimension remains to be seen, but Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Doubling down on the idea that Sonic and his ilk are aliens from a different place, it stands to reason that Amy isn’t from Earth either.

The bigger question mark in this scene is Metal Sonic. Eggman built a robotic hedgehog in the game, but as we saw less than 10 minutes ago, Jim Carrey’s version of the mad scientist seemed to die in a final moment of heroism. Of course, they also pretended to kill him at the end Sonic the Hedgehog 2but was more an obvious tease than anything to his survival. Sonic 3. Agent Stone, Eggman’s loyal follower, also seemed to turn over a new leaf at the end of the movie, so he may have been off the table. Theoretically, anyone could decide to create a robotic version of Sonic after seeing all the events of the first three movies, but the question of why still remains. This is the main difference between the post-credits scene and the previous scenes; it feels almost abstract, introducing new ideas and characters that don’t have a clear, direct connection to what’s happening in the movie it ends with. If this scene occurs in Sonic the Hedgehog 4maybe 10 to 15 minutes into the film, there will be more background to fill in the gaps. But for now, the only thing we really know from this scene is who the new cast members will be in the next movie.

The second post-credits scene is shorter and more direct. We see that one of Shadow’s inhibitory rings left a small crater on Earth after crashing to Earth during the final battle in space. After the camera lingers briefly, we see Shadow walk into the frame and pick it up. It’s not much, but it confirms that Shadow survived the destruction of the Eclipse Cannon and will appear in the next movie. This is not surprising. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 largely based on Sonic Adventure 2in which Shadow is presumed dead after the final battle, only to Sonic Heroes After being rescued by Eggman. There are reports that there are plans Shadow-centric spin-offsso of course they didn’t kill him for good.

Overall, I’m starting to wonder if Sonic 4 Possibly a loose adaptation Sonic Heroes. Metal Sonic is the game’s main antagonist, and if Shadow’s reported spin-off introduces the other members of his team, treasure-hunting spy Bat Rouge and retired Eggman robot E-123 Omega, they’re already having most of the hero‘ Actor accounts. No matter how the fourth movie ends Sonic Fans have a lot to think about after it’s over Sonic 3. Hey, not to brag, but I was right Character most likely to appear in the post-credits scene. Fuck me.
