Sony Reveals New All-Black PS Portal And Other PS5 Accessories

The line of PlayStation 5 consoles and accessories continues to expand. Just a couple of months after the release of the 30th Anniversary set, Sony has unveiled yet another lineup of color options, this time in all-black. The new PlayStation portal looks especially attractive.

Dubbed the Midnight Black Collection, the bundle includes the aforementioned PS Portal ($200), as well as the DualSense Edge ($200), Pulse Wireless Headset ($150), and Pulse Headphones ($200). If you haven’t already purchased one of these accessories, the new versions offer an attractive alternative to their existing all-white counterparts; otherwise, you’ll be spending a pretty penny just to try out a new look.

The Midnight Black Collection will release on February 20, 2025, with pre-orders beginning January 16 at 10am local time (10am ET in the US) at PlayStation Direct Store. Some retailers will also have inventory that needs to be unloaded that day. It doesn’t look like any of these are limited edition, so even if you’re not part of the first batch of orders, the Midnight Black collection should eventually be available to everyone.

At least that’s what one would hope for. I don’t envy anyone jumping in line at the PlayStation Direct online store again after what happened last year with the 30th Anniversary pack themed after the original PlayStation. Long wait times, random lotteries, and confusion about when new promotions will be released have all contributed to… messy and not a very good experience for fans.

The Midnight Black collection currently includes the standard DualSense and overlays, which can be purchased for $75 and $55, respectively. But remember: despite the same size, the PS5’s thin plates will not fit your PS5 Pro. These special color plates will come later.
