“Star Wars: Skeleton CrewWe’ve reached the midpoint of this week’s fourth episode, and while each chapter is surprisingly short, easily finishing in 30 minutes not including the end credits, it’s a light-hearted piece with an impressive amount of Production values and a bold sense of adventure.
Disney+ is banking on the show’s popularity during the holidays and to give the show some extra decorations on the Christmas tree, Lucasfilm has created two new videos to share.
These fun specials take fans behind the scenes to reveal how the series’ monsters and droids are created, and join key cast members as they unveil “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”-related product gifts.
First up is a mini-documentary called “Creatures and Robots” showing all the practical effects created for the non-human inhabitants The world after “Return of the Jedi”. In addition to contributions from Industrial Light & Magic, legendary Academy Award-winning filmmaker Phil Tippett and his team at Tippett Studio in Berkeley, Calif., created a magnificent 14-pound 3D scale for the Trash Crab, also known as the Mother Crab. Print the stop-motion puppet that will be in an upcoming episode.
Here we get a glimpse behind the scenes of the talented animators who worked hard to create this terrifying scene, showing the crawling crustacean emerging from a rocky outcrop and roaring at a group of pygmy children below. The clawed creature became the heaviest stop-motion puppet ever produced by Tippett Studios, even requiring special safety harnesses to prevent damage.
Also featured are Legacy Effects’ puppet work for the grumpy old droid SM-33, and their elaborate audio-animatronic magic that brings blue-skinned alien Neel to life.
Then we joined Jude Law (Jod Na Nawood), Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Wim), Ryan Kira Armstrong (Fern), Kiriana Kratt (KB) and Robert · Timothy Smith (Neel) unpacks and responds to “Skeleton Crew” favorites like the Funko POP! bobblehead, the Onyx Cinder LEGO spaceship with mini-figure crew, and a detailed Star Wars Black Series collectible Action figures.
“Great! I’ve been a collector of bobbleheads for years and now I have my own.
The novelty of having a toy that resembles themselves will never be forgotten by anyone here, and their genuine surprise and joy is palpable. They should be a hit on your gift list this year!
