Staying in Igloo in Finland for $150 a Night, Worth It + Photos
- I visited Laplandthe northernmost region of Finland, and stayed in an igloo for $150 a night.
- It was much cheaper than other similar accommodation I found in the area.
- The temperature outside was below zero, but I slept very well and had a lot of fun.
I’ve always dreamed staying in an igloo. This new experience just feels nostalgic to me – something you imagine as a child but forget to check off your list as an adult.
When I booked a trip to Lapland in December, I knew I wanted to make it happen.
Unfortunately, staying in an igloo is out of my budget most of the time, especially in December when prices tend to rise due to increased demand. Everything I saw was either around $800 a night or was booked months in advance.
I was almost resigned to failure until I came across Happy Ranchfamily cottage near Pyhä-Luosto National Park, on the shore of the serene Lake Pyhäjärvi.
Remains in his elaborately carved igloos were available for just $150 per night and included breakfast. I couldn’t believe my luck.
