
Steam survey highlights AMD’s amazing year – Ryzen CPUs now comprise 40% of participants

Elsewhere, Windows 11 is now undoubtedly the most popular operating system in the survey. In December, Windows 10’s market share dropped to 42.3%, and its market share increased by another 2% to nearly 55%.
With the end of support date for older Windows versions still 10 months away, this trend is expected to continue. However, when looking at global users, the situation is different: Windows 10’s share has grown to 62.7% for two consecutive months, while Windows 11 has dropped to 34.1%.
Looking at the rest of the survey overall, 16GB RAM remains the most popular system RAM amount, but its lead is declining as second place 32GB grows; this trend is also reflected in the VRAM category.
Although 1080p is currently mostly limited to budget models or gaming monitors with extremely high refresh rates, more than half (56.1%) of participants used this resolution. 1440p is the second most popular format, accounting for 19.5%.
English jumped 9% in the language category in December, solidifying its top spot with a 42.1% share, while Chinese, in second place, dropped slightly to 29.9%. Finally, most people still have over 1TB of hard drive space, but only 100GB to 249GB of available space.
