TCL Ai Mi Companion Bot Is Just a Baby That Follows You Around
TCL Ai Mi Companion Bot is just a baby that follows you everywhere
It’s hard not to love artificially intelligent pet robots when they’re still cute babies. CNET’s Bridget Carey takes a look at TCL’s latest smart home concept, an AI robotic companion for kids named I Me (“Amy”).
Look, if we’re going to have robots at home, why not make them adorable little baby robots that will roll around and you can cuddle with. This is Amy, a concept from TCL that is a robotic companion that is designed to allow the child in the house to communicate and play, and is also somewhat connected to all the smart home things you may already have with TCL. This is something like a smart home control center. That your child can play and document their day with vlogs and just be a little buddy, and how you can get mad at an AI robot getting all this information about you when it’s so cute. There are cameras here, and they have eye screens, and it’s just cute faces, a lot of cute faces, and it’s also, it’s a little mobile stroller that has a lot of different sensors in it, and it rolls around. Your home. I’m seeing more and more small robotic companions made for children using artificial intelligence. We’ve seen things like Moxie, for example, where you can have conversations back and forth, but here in the TCL concept it’s also used as maybe your smart security system. He listens to everything that happens in the car. He knows the temperature in the house. You know, if you’re not at home, you might want to take it for a ride and make it an extra watch around the house. What will you take away from this carriage? It’s a blink of the eyes, a wave of the hands, and it uses its cameras to communicate with you in some way. I’ve seen a lot of robotic companions rolling around your house every year at CES. Usually these are all concepts, but none of the concepts had outfits before. Yes, you can dress up Amy. We have a green model, possibly a space model, dressed like a penguin. Why don’t you dress your robots as penguins? We need more of this in this world because it brings joy, right? Anyway, the whole point is that since it’s for kids, they’ll want to play. Use it to give it your own little personality. All these sensors and AI, when combined, will learn and grow with you over time. And if you can’t take Amy with you, you can even unclip the little pin and take her with you. This is a camera. So Amy kind of knows what you do when Amy can’t be there. So you have a sort of instantaneous memory decline on the go. This is the cutest AI robot ever. He’s really light, he has sparkling eyes and… Your heart if you think this is unusual. Yes, you’re right, it’s unusual, but we’re seeing more and more robots that are designed to interact with children with artificial intelligence, so that you can communicate and they become sort of a best friend, a little buddy. Besides being adorable. Oh, his hands are growing, his hands are growing. It can control your smart home. So yes, why don’t we make it a smart home? Like a little, little child, little robot child. I can’t be mad at the little robot. 00, he’s sleepy. Oh, sorry. Why do I want to do this? What do I want to do with this? Would you like to return to your prayer? 00, that’s it, mate. That’s all. He just bursts in. You know, I always wondered where we were going with all these robots running around the house, and I don’t like it. Come on, let’s make them small and cute and adorable and see where it goes. What do you think? Let us know in the comments if you would adopt Amy’s little buddy. Thanks for watching.
