TCL shocked CES 2025 by launching a great TV you can actually preorder
On Monday at CES 2025 In Las Vegas, TCL introduced its newest series of TVs, the QM6K. The most important thing to know here is that TCL is bringing its high-quality Mini LED technology to its entry-level product line at very aggressive prices. And for the first time we can remember, at CES The QM6K TV is now available for pre-order.. TCL is also on the ZDNET list. most impressive products at CES so far.

It will cost $999 for the 65-inch model, $1,299 for the 75-inch model, and $1,999 for the 85-inch model. (Even its 98-inch screen is expected to sell for less than $3,500, although it’s not available to pre-order yet.) If you pre-order one of the three main QM6K TVs, TCL will also give you free 5.1.2-channel Soundbar Q75H – which retails for $899.

TCL proudly bills itself as the first company to launch a mini LED TV back in 2016, a product of research and development that emerged from its full Pangu technology lab in China. This year, Pangu’s lab appears to have surpassed its own innovation.
To begin with, the company’s engineers introduced a Super High Energy LED chip, which is designed to increase brightness by 53% and improve lighting efficiency by 10%. To optimize this effect, the Pangu team also developed the Condensed Micro Lens, an updated version of the 2024 UWA Dual Arch Lens. Together, the new chip and lens provide increased stability and a narrower light path for more precise dimming and dimming control. In fact, TCL is calling this 2025 result a “precision dimming series.”
The lab also upgraded TCL’s backlight system to reduce the optical distance (or “OD”) between the backlight and the diffuser of the QM6K and its future models. Thanks to this “Micro OD” approach, images will suffer less from ghosting, even between the contrast of piercing whites and buttery blacks. Their test data shows improvements in backlight uniformity and color control of 86% and 67%, respectively. We’ll have to check these numbers ourselves when the TV arrives for testing.
Improved performance
The QM6K also features a bi-directional 23-bit backlight controller, complemented by a high-contrast CSOT HVA panel with a stronger dark state to block light more effectively and provide over 65,000 levels of brightness when turning the LCD on/off. Result? Potential static contrast ratio of 7000:1. That figure is nothing to write home about, and TCL claims it’s five times higher than competing models in the same price range.

In addition to the new color optimization algorithm built into its OS, the QM6K includes enough quantum crystals to reproduce more than one billion colors with up to 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Additionally, a new dynamic lighting algorithm optimizes the incoming video signal so that SDR signals are reproduced at levels close to HDR.
While all of these improved performance specs are impressive, it’s the TCL AiPQ processor upgrades that caught my attention the most. What TCL has coined as “zero-latency transient response” ensures there is virtually no delay between the input signal and the backlight response, creating higher peak brightness without any afterimages or blur.
The QM6K also features an anti-glare coating that significantly reduces light reflection on the screen.
