MagSafe Quick Start

Most of the wireless chargers in this guide are MagSafe wireless charger or Qi2 certified. This means they utilize magnets embedded in the back iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 15and iPhone 16 series. I cannot stress this enough: If you buy a case, make sure it is MagSafe protective case. We provide several third-party options in the case guide linked above. Regular iPhone cases weaken the attraction of the magnets in the device, Will not stick MagSafe accessories are great.

What’s the point of MagSafe? You don’t have to worry about your wireless charger being misaligned, which means you won’t wake up to find your iPhone is dead. Technically, this perfect combination means the charger can deliver faster 15W charging, but Apple has limited this benefit to select products from a few brands. MagSafe can also be used with AirPods charging cases (depending on on your model). Apple’s AirPods and AirPods Pro come with wireless charging cases that work with almost any standard Qi wireless charging pad on these chargers (same) Many third-party wireless headphones), but if you have AirPods with MagSafe, you can also attach them to the magnetic holder. If you don’t have a MagSafe iPhone, your device won’t be able to connect to these chargers, although we do have some support for older iPhones (as well as iPhone SE).

What are standby mode and nightstand mode?

You’ll see that we propose two specific patterns in this guide: Standby mode and bedside table mode. What are these?

standby mode was introduced to iOS 17. When you place your iPhone on the charger in landscape orientation, it turns the screen into a sort of dock, displaying a clock (you can choose from different designs), a photo from your gallery, or a widget. If your iPhone supports the always-on screen feature, you can choose to automatically turn off the display when your iPhone is idle for a period of time or when the room is dark. Go to Settings > Standby to customize it.

bedside table mode It already exists on Apple Watch. Basically, when the watch is held upright and charging, the watch face stays on so you can always tell the time. You can go to Apple Watch to customize it Settings > General > Nightstand Mode.
