The ‘Creature Commandos’ Finale Brings Back Another DCEU Cast Member
Creature Commando
Creature Commandos is the first official DCU project. the first season has endedand the finale added another DCEU character to its roster.
By the end of the season, with only (spoilers) the Bride, Weasel and Dr. Phosphorus surviving the events of the princess’s murder, the team needed to be rebuilt. Speaking of backup, we see an upgraded robot soldier who isn’t actually dead, in addition to new DC members we haven’t seen before, Khalis, a revived mummy, and Nosferata, a vampire who once fought. Superboy. Both were previously commando creatures in the comics.
We then added another DCEU member, King Shark, who will appear in the finale and join the DCU team. He was, of course, a core member of James Gunn’s reformed Suicide Squad team in the second film, which was one of the reasons Gunn was given the keys to the DCU.
I just checked and King Shark was briefly voiced in Creature Commandos by Diedrich Bader, the actor who previously voiced Batman in Harley Quinn and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. This is in contrast to Sylvester Stallone, who voiced King Shark in Gunn’s Suicide Squad. Although I didn’t expect him to appear for even a couple of lines.
King Shark
The addition of King Shark continues to blur the lines between Gunn’s old DCEU projects, Peacemaker and Suicide Squad, with the new DCU being the latest in a long line of crossovers.
In fact, the entire cast of Peacemaker continues to work in the DCU, especially Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). It has been said that John Cena will reprise his role and the entire second season of Peacemaker will become DCU canon with some explanation.
The events of Suicide Squad also seem canonical: Rick Flagg Sr. lost his son at the hands of Peacemaker. Only a few members of the Suicide Squad survived in this film, including Weasel, Pied Piper II, Bloodsport, King Shark and Harley Quinn.
Of these, it’s now confirmed that Weasel and King Shark are still in the DCU, but that leaves open questions about characters like Idris Elba’s Bloodsport and, most importantly, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, who appeared in three complete DCEU films, both Suicide Squads. and Birds of Prey opposite Jared Leto’s Joker (limited screen time). I think it’s safe to say that Leto won’t be returning, but given that Harley played such an important role in Gunn’s film, which appears to be canon, fans are wondering if she’s going to reprise the role.
Suicide Squad
The likely answer is… no, probably not. First of all, there are no signs that Harley Quinn will be featured in any DCU projects in the near or even distant future. The only Batman project is The Brave and the Bold and she shouldn’t be part of that story.
Secondly, Margot Robbie appears to be moving on from the role. IN variety interview After Suicide Squad, Robbie said:
“I always wanted Harley to be a character that could be played by other actresses, like there are so many iconic male characters. This has always been a dream for her. Harley is so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put it in the wrong hands and think, “What are they going to do with it?” The options are endless.”
This sounds quite categorical, but what? could The thing is, Robbie’s DCEU Harley remains canon in the DCU, at least with the events of her last film, but it’s just a different actress portraying her moving forward. But then again, we’re talking about years and years, and the only Harley we’ll see for a while is Kaley Cuoco’s animated version.
But hey, King Shark is back!
