
The Game Awards’ first Game Changers recipient responds to “hateful” and “disturbing” comments accusing him of fraud
Amir Satvat won the first Game Changer award at The Game Awards last week but has since received “countless hate messages”, “disturbing comments” and backlash against his wife Jewish speech.
Satvat won the award for helping laid-off workers across the gaming industry find new jobs. The award is hosted by Jeff KeighleyAddressing “significant and unprecedented industry-wide layoffs,” he admitted the show would struggle to address the issue “in a constructive way.”
Satvat has helped nearly 3,000 people find jobs and was dubbed the “Professional Santa Claus” at the awards ceremony. However, since last week he has been subjected to abuse online as he currently works for a Chinese technology group Tencent.
“Over the past four days, I have received numerous hate messages directed at me personally, as well as hundreds of messages on YouTube and Twitter,” Satwatt wrote in a statement. LinkedIn Post.
“People have made disturbing comments about my family – I’m just not sharing those comments because they are disgusting, but I will share some other example comments. My wife and I have been the target of anti-Semitic slurs. There are Several videos mocked my comments for suggesting I sounded autistic – repeating it to please their viewers.
He wrote that because Satwatt worked as a business development director at Tencent, he was accused of being some kind of agent or factory to take advantage of the community, or that he was a con man.
However, he explained that his community work will start in November 2022, and then join Tencent in August 2023.
“I didn’t do M&A at Tencent or Amazon,” Satwatt continued. “This stems from a naive, erroneous reference to what I do in an Infinity article, which has since been corrected to indicate that I only work in investments.”
He also never fired an employee.
“They didn’t mention Tencent at all in TGA because it’s not relevant to this community and they want to focus on how we can drive this ourselves,” he said.
“I’ve been accused of creating ‘fraud worthy of jail time’ and ridiculed for ‘just making a spreadsheet for people to enter their information’, often by people who spent a full eight seconds browsing our website, for what we did to There’s nothing about the work, or the impact we’ve had, we have 15 resources across five different resource houses, and there’s a lot of depth in our community, as anyone who’s used it knows.
He speculated: “This can happen to you too when you sacrifice over 2,000 hours of your time to help the industry – it’s a ‘reward’ for two years of service.”
After leaving office, he said he would now “return to our mission of active, public service.”
