Huawei has launched the Mate X6, the latest addition to its Mate X series of booklet-style foldable phones focused primarily on photography.
The phone is equipped with a 50MP main lens with an impressive 10 physical apertures, allowing users to manually determine the camera’s depth of field and amount of light. This is even better than best camera phone – think Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro – There is almost always a fixed aperture.
The camera system also features a 40MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 48MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom and 5cm super macro mode.
As a folding phone, Mate X6 has a 6.45-inch 1080 x 2440 external screen and a 7.93-inch 2240 x 2440 internal screen, both organic light emitting diodes panel. The new multitasking feature allows users to run three applications simultaneously.
We’re still waiting for details on the new device’s internals, but we do know that the phone has 30 percent more cooling area thanks to the use of new, cooler materials like graphene.
However, even if we do get a handle on the Mate X6’s internal specs, they’re unlikely to be of much use—Huawei hasn’t sold a phone in the U.S. in years. due to legislative prohibitionthe company is currently absent from the UK market.
This would make the Mate X6 the second particularly innovative foldable phone Huawei has released in recent years. this MateXT For example, the tri-fold device arrived in September 2024 and despite being only available in China, caused a huge stir among viewers and reviewers (that said, we’ll be publishing our own actual review of the device soon).
Huawei Mate X6 is available in three colors: nebula gray, nebula red, and black. The nebula color has a textured appearance. Availability outside of Europe (the phone will start shipping on January 6 for €1,999) has yet to be confirmed.
