The Last of Us Part 2 requires a PSN account if you want to play it on PC

Despite releasing on PS5 in 2020, The Last of Us Part 2 We are talking only about the release on PC. On the one hand, it will be a remastered version when it comes out (it’s up to you to decide whether a four-and-a-half-year-old game needs a remaster at all). However, if you plan to launch your brutal zombie action game via Steam or the Epic Games Store, you won’t be able to escape Sony’s clutches.

As noted VGKif you want to play The Last of Us Part 2 On PC, you need to connect your PlayStation Network account to do this. Indeed, if you look at the game Steam Pageyou can see it listed in the right column.

And this despite two things:

  1. TLOU This is a single-player game, so requiring a PSN account doesn’t make sense.
  2. A similar tactic was tried last year Helldiver 2. Guess how it happened

Seems like Sony hasn’t learned anything

As the VGC report also notes, the need to have a separate account to play through Steam or Epic makes the game useless in countries without PSN. Obviously, this means that many people around the world will not be able to play. The Last of Us Part 2 (updated or not) when it releases on PC this April.

Although Sony has backtracked on this decision in the past, doing a complete U-turn when they tried to implement it into the aforementioned system. Helldiver 2the company also recognized he was “still learning what’s best for PC gamers.” However, that doesn’t seem to be the case if Sony makes PSN demands for a PC port of the single-player game.

There was also an incident in September 2024 when against for God of War Ragnarok completely removed the PlayStation Network requirement. This alone should show how unpopular it is. Will Sony give in? The Last of Us Part 2? This seems to be in his best interest. Unfortunately, I have no influence on this decision.
