In 2025, Max subscribers will experience one of the most anticipated shows of the year – Season 2 of The Last of Us. After a crazy first season, we were all wondering what would happen next with Ellie, Joel and their friends trying to survive in a world overrun by monsters.
The second season of the series, based on the game The Last of Us Part II, will take viewers deeper into the horrors of post-apocalyptic reality. There will also be many new characters introduced. In trailers promoting the show, you can see the likes of Isaac Jeffrey Wright, Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby and Isabela Merced’s Dina. Of course, there are also appearances of the terrible infected.

Fans of Bella Ramsay and Pedro Pascal can rest easy as the former confirmed on Twitter that the dynamic duo will be returning for a second season.
Joel’s brother Tommy will also appear in The Last of Us Part II, so we expect that Gabriel Luna return. The same goes for his partner Maria Miller, played by Wesley’s routine.
One of the most important characters in the second game is Abby, and fans have been speculating for a long time about who could play her. Many suspected it would be The Wilds star Shannon Berry as she looks so much like the character.
HBO has confirmed that Abby will star. Kaitlyn Deverstarring in series such as Last Man Standing and Datura, and also appeared in the films Rosalyn and Next Goal Wins. Interestingly, fans of the games once chose Dever to play the role of Ellie.

The creators described Dina as warm, brilliant, wild, funny, moral, dangerous and instantly sweet. She is a free spirit whose devotion to Ellie will be tested by the cruelty of the world they live in.
Catherine O’Haraknown for the films “Beetlejuice” or “Home Alone”, joined the cast. According to rumors, the actress will play the mysterious prophetess of the Seraphite cult, which has spread its influence to the outskirts of Seattle.
One of the biggest additions to the cast is Jeffrey Wrightwho you may know from Westworld, Batman and No Time to Die.
The actor will play Isaac, an influential leader of the Washington Liberation Front, a large military group. Wright is no stranger to this universe – he voiced Isaac in The Last of Us Part II.

What will the plot of The Last of Us season 2 be?
This season will describe the events of the sequel to The Last of Us Part II.

After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up with them, drawing them into conflict with each other and with a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
Fans are in luck as the game’s story will supposedly be split into multiple seasons, as confirmed by showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin. GQ. However, we do not know how many more there will be.
While The Last of Us season 2 will cover the events of the second game, it may also fill in some gaps that weren’t explored in depth in the source material (just like the heartbreaking third episode of season 1 – we’re still not over it).

We won’t go into spoilers for the game here, but there is a five-year time jump in which Ellie will age from 14 to 19. The latter is closer to Bella Ramsay’s real age, which is ideal for filming.
During this time, some flashbacks show what happened between Joel and Ellie, so it’s likely that the series could expand on this theme.

We could see if Ellie finds out if Joel lied when he swore to her that he was telling the truth about her immunity. We could also see a potential budding romance with Dina, who may have already had a cameo in the first season.
Flashbacks aside, The Last of Us Part II returns to Jackson Wyoming and follows Ellie as she reaps the rewards of Joel’s murderous rampage at the hospital to save her from cordyceps surgery.
As with the events of the first story, fans can expect brutal violence, more heartbreak, and a whole host of twists and turns.
