Last Friday we brought you Next-gen Nintendo Switch dimensions leaked The most likely source at the moment: “3D scans of the actual hardware” obtained by case manufacturer Dbrand. But the case manufacturer is not only Source of leakage.

The Nintendo Switch 2 and its dock, as described by the mystery Reddit leaker
Reddit user named “NextHandheld” Claims to have seen and touched Actual final retail units of the Nintendo Switch 2.
In particular, I saw two photos of a possible Nintendo Switch 2 dock, as well as a in A possible Switch 2 controller rail, covered in certification logos and with exposed copper contacts, also showing its metal stand hinges open at an angle. It is worth noting that the terminal is no Contained in 3D scans circulating among case manufacturers.
If NextHandheld is telling the truth, we now know a lot more about Nintendo’s next-gen console. For example: Although we’d like it to be called the “Super Nintendo Switch,” it’ll probably be called the “Super Nintendo Switch” Nintendo Switch 2.
name and date
Nintendo officially calls it only the “successor to Nintendo Switch” and promises to officially announce the new console As of March 31, 2025and revealed that the backwards compatible With the original Switch game.
According to unofficial sources, NextHandheld sources have heard that the plan could be announced as early as January and have shared what they claim is first-hand evidence edge This is the Nintendo Switch 2.
The distance is not far According to this Reddit user’s guess:
Although NextHandheld says it’s “disappointed” that the dock doesn’t appear to have more ports than the original (two USB-A, one HDMI, one Ethernet and possibly a USB-C for its power module) ”, but there may be a different Stand back and watch.
Magnetic Controller – Finally an anti-drift joystick
April, spanish bar buster (Correctly reported Small details of Switch OLED Pre-launch) reports suggest that, incredibly, Nintendo may be using magnet This way your Joy-Con will magically click into place.
Nowadays, this no longer seems unbelievable, because the photos I’ve seen of the joystick rail area don’t have rails in them: it’s just a long, round, hollow area with a 13-pin connector sticking out, so it can be plugged in Joy-Con. NextHandheld says that when you connect them, there’s a physical magnetic click that you’ll press on a larger button on the controller (one that’s physically connected to the magnet) to release. (You can see the mockup of these buttons In our Dbrand story.)
What’s more, the Nintendo Switch 2 may finally get rid of The infamous “Joy-Con drift” still plagues its controllers to this day. NextHandheld claims the controller will feature a magnetic Hall effect joystick that does not contain the same degraded sensor material and can be easily recalibrated.
A U-shaped bracket
The original Nintendo Switch had a tiny, easily tipped gum stand, while the Switch OLED has a wide slab. But according to a photo shared with me by NextHandheld, the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a U-shaped stand rail.
From what I understand, 3D CAD archives also show a U-shape – and case manufacturers have also started sharing images of U-shaped brackets. But it looks like it might be more powerful than some of the models around it:
Is there extra power when docking?
Once upon a time, Nintendo Reportedly planning to release Nintendo Switch Prowhich outputs 4K graphics when connected to a TV, At least partly thanks to Nvidia’s DLSS AI upgrade. That didn’t happen, but the Nintendo Switch 2’s dock may have been designed to make the handheld computer run a little faster.
On Reddit, NextHandheld cryptically teased that asking if the base has a fan is “the right question,” adding in a edgeI can see the so-called dock has big feet around the back, Its position allows it to be placed horizontally without blocking a set of vents.
While I don’t think you’d intentionally place it on the back, as the handheld could fall out of the completely open slot at the top, I can imagine Nintendo wanting to make sure the console doesn’t overheat if you accidentally knock it over.
Interestingly, NextHandheld says the dock is rated at 60W, while the Switch 2 is rated at 45W, which, if true, would both be significantly higher than the original. The original Switch had an unusual 39W charger that worked in both docked and handheld modes, but could only deliver up to 18W of power in handheld mode.
There’s a lot we still don’t know
You can dig through NextHandheld’s Reddit comments or read This early summary More possible details on the new console. But Reddit users admitted that they had never turned on the handheld or played any games. They don’t know if the Switch 2 can play original Switch cartridges, or if it can only play digital Switch 1 games. They don’t know if it has a microphone or camera, or how much storage it has, or its performance, or anything about its purported 8-inch screen or its launch title.
They did say, however, that it will launch in dark gray, like the original Nintendo Switch, and will be followed by a white model, as well as models themed after Nintendo games that haven’t received a themed Switch yet. And, they’re the latest to possibly confirm there’s a new second USB-C port on the top, although this was already evident in the 3D scans.
If Nintendo is indeed releasing the Switch 2 in January, though, you won’t have to wait too long to get more answers, or to know if they’re true.
