On Chinese social network WeiboOPPO CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the foldable OPPO Find N5 will go on sale in February. Interestingly, Lau stated that the upcoming Find N5 will be the thinnest foldable flagship in the world. While no specific details about its thinness were provided, an image was released comparing the OPPO Find N5 to a wooden pencil.
In the image, the OPPO Find N5 looks impressively thin. A standard wooden pencil is usually around 7-8mm thick. Based on the comparison shown in the image, the OPPO Find N5 does look quite thin. Currently HONOR Magic V3 holds the title of the thinnest foldable phone in the world: its thickness is 9.2 mm when folded and 4.4 mm when unfolded. For reference, the OPPO Find N3 is 5.8mm thick when unfolded.
According to Lau, for the OPPO Find N5 to win the title of the world’s thinnest foldable phone, it needs to be thinner than 4.4mm. It is speculated that the thickness of the OPPO Find N5 could be 4mm. In addition, if the phone is thin when unfolded, then when folded it will most likely be thinner than the HONOR Magic V3.
OPPO has officially announced that the Find N5 will launch in February, meaning that the global variant, presumably the OnePlus Open 2, could arrive soon after. Because the OnePlus Open was identical to the OPPO Find N3 and was released shortly after the Find N3 launched in China.
The OnePlus Open 2 is rumored to feature a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50MP telephoto lens, all customized by Hasselblad. Additionally, the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and is also rumored to feature the largest battery of any foldable device. The phone can also wireless charging function and magnetic accessories.
