“These are not terrible films” – Sony Pictures’ CEO just doesn’t get why nobody wanted to watch Spider-Man films that don’t have Spider-Man in them

We all know it Sony The live-action Spider-Verse is a mess, but the CEO of Sony Pictures doesn’t understand why it didn’t do well.

If I gave you two cards, one that said “Spider-Man movie” and one that said “Spider-Man villain movie but he’s not in it,” which would you choose? Obviously the first one, because most comic book villains aren’t very interesting on their own. I is obviously one of the exceptions to this rule, but he is also similar to Spider-Man and has become an anti-hero in recent years, so there is a certain appeal there. But Morbius? Madame Web? Requirements? No. But Sony made movies about them anyway, and now, speaking to Los Angeles TimesSony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra said he simply doesn’t understand why the films weren’t successful.

The most recent release, Craven, was a huge bomb, with current worldwide box office receipts of nearly $46, not even half of its estimated $110 million price tag. Vinciquerra shared that this is “probably the worst launch we’ve had in the seven and a half years” since he started and continued, completely bafflingly, “it didn’t work very well, which I still don’t Understand”. I don’t understand because the film is not bad.” There’s a big misunderstanding here that any amount of quality can make up for a film that no one wants, but according to Vinciquerra, it’s actually the press’s fault that films like Madame Web and then Craven underperform .

Madame Web didn’t do well in theaters because the press simply trashed it. It was a good movie and performed well on Netflix. For some reason the press decided they didn’t want us to make these Craven and Madame movies. Web, and the critics simply destroyed them. They did the same thing with Venom, but audiences loved Venom and made Venom a huge hit. These aren’t terrible films, for some reason they were just destroyed by critics.

The reason was because the movies were bad, Tony! “Venom” was a hit because he is the famous Spider-Man character, Tony! And each of its sequels did worse at the box office than the previous one, because all the other Sony Spider-Man films without Spider-Man were received very poorly! Come on!

Anyway, none of this matters because this universe is now deadwith the focus once again being on the character everyone truly loves: Spider-Man. Who would have thought that this would be a smart decision!
