These three improvements could turn M4 MacBook Air into my dream laptop

While MacBook Pro is the place to get the latest and greatest technology, I’ve always been attracted to it MacBook Air One key reason: portability. Thin and light features are really nice MacBook Airwhich makes me willing to compromise on miniLED, ProMotion, additional ports, etc.

Apple recently increased the standard brightness on a range of new displays. The standard brightness of the M4 MacBook Pros has been increased to 1,000 nits (600 nits for the M3 and 500 nits for the M2), and the standard brightness of the new M2 iPad Air has also been increased from 500 nits to 600 nits, at least on the 13-inch model. so.

So, it stands to reason that Apple Can Impact the next generation MacBook Air From 500 nits to 600 nits if they want. It will be consistent with some other device upgrades, and it will provide a solid availability upgrade MacBook Air buyer. This will be a rather noticeable upgrade for many users, as the M4 model is expected to be a spec bump only.

Improve heat dissipation

Apple has also made improvements across the board to thermal performance for devices that rely on passive cooling, especially iPhone 16 Pro and M4 iPad Pro. Both devices boast improved cooling, whether it’s graphite sheets, copper heatsinks or improved internal designs.

I am not here to say whether MacBook Air Cooling is good enough, but I did notice that my machine got a little hot at medium workflows. While this upgrade may be a no-brainer since the M4 iMac and M4 MacBook Pro already have it – I’d also very much like to see Center Stage on the next MacBook Air. It offers some really cool features and a better webcam that everyone can appreciate. Center Stage makes FaceTime more fun, and features like desktop view are also very useful.

These three upgrades will make MacBook Air At least to me, this is a more attractive option. MacBook Pros (especially the 16-inch model) are pretty heavy, and I really value having a nice thin and light laptop that I can easily throw in my bag without worry. This is why I eventually stopped using the MacBook Pro.

Even if Apple didn’t make these changes, I’d still prefer MacBook Air – but this is my wish list. I’m currently using an M2 13-inch MacBook Airand want to jump to 15 inches. However, Apple would need to do more than just a chip upgrade to convince me.

It’s easy to want a 120Hz display or even an OLED display like the new iPad Pro. However, this is also Apple’s cheapest laptop, so I prefer to be a little gentler with my recommendations.
