This upcoming phone could be the best foldable this year
Honor, Google, Xiaomi and Vivo launched new folding phones last year, which were developed to compete with Samsung and Galaxy Z Fold 6. Nevertheless, the challenge was not to compare Samsung, but also surpass the folding launches in the previous year.
The launch in the USA, OnePlus Open set the standard for the industry, which guaranteed that it is still highly rated as one of the best folding phones a year later.
To perform this challenge, Honor launched Magic V3 as a thin folding phone, and Google launched the updated Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Both phones provided experience that could challenge the best in the market, but it was noticeably in its absence OnePlus, and the subsidiary of Oppo.
Instead of starting a new folding phone, before he was ready, Oppo decided to wait. The company steadily teases various functions on its new folding phone, and, as it turned out, the wait was probably worth it. I am ridiculously excited by Oppo Find N5, and it is best that it will probably also be launched as OnePlus Open 2 in the USA and some global markets.
That is why I am so excited and what it means for other folding phones in the market.
Thinner than something before
The general director of Oppo Pete Lau, who also became the co -founder of OnePlus, steadily tears Find N5 on social networks, and each teaser seems to be worth screaming. The first one who attracted my attention was associated with the thickness, and Oppo issued an account on Find N5 as the thinnest folding phone.

Last year was the launch of the Honor Magic V3, which has a current title for the thin most folding phone. Measuring only 4.3 mm at its thin point when unfolding, this is a joy in use and much more convenient in hand than competitors, such as Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which measure 5.6 mm and 5.1 mm respectively.
This may not seem like that, but these are big differences when you use the phone daily. It is important to note that this also means that it is much thinner with complexity. I use the front screen on my folding phone at least 40% of cases, and this leads to a more ergonomic sensation. The magic V3 is 9.3 mm thin when folding, while the Z -brake 6.1 mm, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is 10.5 mm.

How does OPPO find N5 compare? We do not know for sure, but Oppo teased him against the photograph of the iPad Pro M4, which has 5.1 mm and iPhone 16 Pro, which measures 8.3 mm. Considering that the Magic V3 is much thinner than both of them, when it turned around, I expect the N5 find will be a thickness of about 4.2 mm or even thinner. This would be impressive in itself, but there is not everything that Find N5 will help establish a new standard for competitions.
New boundaries of durability
Durability has always been a problem for potential customers of a folding phone thanks to a larger second display and hinge. Nevertheless, durability has improved significantly, since the first Galaxy Fold and most folding phones now offer similar levels of durability with their indistinguishable analogues.
Nevertheless, there is always a place to improve, and finding N5 hopes to establish a new standard. When I saw a teaser that N5 was thin, I was rather excited, but also somewhat softened in my expectations. Nevertheless, the last teaser from Pia Lau is even more excited, because it forms a more durable than any other folding phone.

Let’s look at the honor of the Magic V3: it is extremely thin, but still retains some water resistance thanks to the IPX8 rating, but does not have dust resistance. Galaxy Z Fold 6 takes another step with the IP48 rating, which provides strong water resistance and limited dust resistance, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers the same IP68 rating that we expected from indistinguishable phones.
Oppo will find N5, Aka the Open 2? He will have an IPX9 rating, which means that it provides the same resistance not only to water, but also for high -pressure aircraft. Other phones that have a similar rating? The Oppo Find X8 Pro and OnePlus 13, the last of which works great after it was thrown into a hot dishwasher. It is not clear whether there will also be resistance to dust, but this will establish a standard for waterproof stability in folding phones.
The rest looks equally impressive
In addition to durability and thickness, Find N5 has several other rumors that excited me very much. There will be a 6.85-inch LTPO display with a resolution of 2K and a dynamic update. It will also be equipped with an elite Snapdragon 8 chipset and will probably have 16 GB of RAM, like OnePlus 13, although the last specification is a formed assumption on my part.
The unification of all this package is likely to be a battery for 6,000 mAh, which will almost certainly use Silicon carbon technology, such as its ruthless brothers and sisters. Also on board the wired charging is 80 watts, although there is no confirmation or teaser in relation to wireless charging.

One of the key problems with all folding phones is that most phone manufacturers choose the lower camera for ineffective equivalent phones. Find N5 can solve this and establish a standard thanks to the Triple Hasselblad camera with Periscope telephone lens; If OnePlus 13 is a kind of indicator, it can be a fantastic camera.
