This is the world’s first device with a rollable screen that’s actually going to be sold

Foldable screens have been around for a while, and rollable displays certainly represent the next big thing. Various display panel manufacturers and smartphone brands have demonstrated such panels over the years, but so far there haven’t been any commercial products using them.

However, this is apparently due to changes at CES in early January. According to legendary leaker Evan Blass aka @evleaks, Lenovo will launch its latest generation ThinkBook Plus at CES, which will feature a rollable screen, as shown in the leaked image below.

You could choose to use it as a “normal” laptop, with what appears to be a 3:2 screen aspect ratio, and no one would be more aware of the cool technology it’s hiding.

When you want some extra screen real estate, just pull the monitor up and voila, it’s now bigger! It’s bound to feel amazing the first time you do it in person and will definitely be a huge wow factor with this laptop.

Unfortunately, we don’t know any specs for the display yet, and there are always durability issues with first-generation products, but it’s going to be a cool product. And, we’d venture to guess, it’s also extremely expensive – an early adopter tax may still be in effect.
