ASUS subsidiary Asustor launches second-generation Flashstor NAS series, providing high-performance, SSD-based storage.
This series consists of Flashstor 6 Gen 2 (AS6806X) and Flashstor 12 Pro Gen 2 (FS6812X), which support up to 6 and 12 M.2 NVMe SSDs respectively, and are compatible with PCIe 4.0 x4 to provide ultra-fast data Transfer speed.
Both models are made of AMD Quad-core 6nm Ryzen embedded V3C14 processor, upgraded from the previous generation Intel Celeron N5105 CPU (check out our review of Flashstor 12 Pro FS6712X from 2023 is here).

Flashstor 12 Pro Gen 2 comes with 16GB DDR5-4800 ECC memory, which is expandable up to 64GB, while Flashstor 6 Gen 2 comes with 8GB of memory, which is also expandable. These devices are ideal for resource-intensive tasks such as 4K Video editing and content creation.
Flashstor 12 Pro Gen 2 offers dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, while Flashstor 6 Gen 2 has a single 10 Gigabit Ethernet port. Both models support SMB multi-channel, enabling faster data transfer than standard 10GbE. Featuring two USB 4.0 (Type-C) ports and three USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-A) ports, these devices provide high-speed external connectivity and are compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4 devices.
Both models feature advanced cooling systems that use silent fans to maintain optimal performance under heavy workloads while keeping noise levels low.

Taking full advantage of a 12-disk model and equipping it with a dozen 8TB SSDs will increase the cost significantly, possibly to over $8,000. This high-end setup is clearly aimed at professionals and enthusiasts who want cutting-edge storage capabilities and are willing to pay for it.
