This new AirPods feature will have its biggest impact with iOS 18.4

AirPods Pro 3 aren’t out yet, nor are AirPods Max 2, but regardless, it’s been a solid year for AirPods, thanks to AirPods 4 and some powerful software updates. However, one of my favorite new features of the year should have its biggest impact in the months after iOS 18.4 is released.

My favorite new AirPods feature: Siri interaction

As it has done every year since the AirPods Pro 2 were first launched, Apple launched Multiple new software upgrades This year’s wireless headphones.

iOS 18 and 18.1 The following features have been introduced:

• sound isolation: Improve call quality in noisy environments.
• Siri interaction: Respond to Siri by nodding or shaking your head.
• hearing health: Hearing testing, hearing aids and hearing protection.
• Personalized spatial audio: Apple has improved this, but the details are unclear.

Without a doubt, the most transformative upgrade this year is the Hearing Health Trifecta. But my personal favorite is Siri Interactions, which supports AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4.

I love how Apple built such a perfect audio cue to show that it’s recording your head movements.

This feature is a great addition when I’m walking around the city and want to minimize voice interaction with Siri.

As much as I already like Siri interactions, they will have their biggest impact in iOS 18.4.

iOS 18.4 promises smart Siri to inspire more everyday use

Apple plans to release iOS 18.4 this spring and focus on major improvements to Siri.

Here’s what’s coming:

• Take action within and across apps: Voice computing will actually start to become a reality when Siri can perform hundreds of new app actions.
• personal background knowledge: Siri will act as a true assistant as it will be able to answer requests based on your personal information such as your calendar details, text messages you have received, podcasts you have listened to, etc.
• screen awareness: No matter what you see on your screen, Siri can take action.

The promise of iOS 18.4 is that it will make Siri the smart assistant we all wanted but never had before.

If Apple can deliver on this promise, daily use of Siri will surely increase, and new Siri interactive features will become even more important.
