Top 5 CES 2025 announcements I can’t wait to see

CES 2025 officially kicks off in a few days (January 7 to be exact), and we know one word is sure to be at the center of this year’s event: artificial intelligence.

However, as a gizmo at heart, I’m more interested in… well, actual physical gizmos, and this exists International Consumer Electronics Showwe may see some really cool products this year (AI-enabled or not).

With the biggest announcement just days away, we already have a pretty good idea of what’s to come, despite most news being under lockdown. Here are some of the things I most want to see at CES this year.

Honda electric car

The Consumer Electronics Show is not an automotive event by definition, but automakers often use it to showcase the technology in their new and upcoming vehicles. This year, some big manufacturers will be absent from the show, but Honda went all out and made a lot of announcements at CES.

The company has announced that it will launch new products 0 series prototype model January 7th. The company will also show off the new vehicle operating system that will run in the 0 Series cars, and we should know more about Honda’s new self-driving technology.

We should also know the pre-order details of Sony AFEELA at CES 2025.

But that’s not all Honda is. The company recently partnered with Sony to create an electric car called AFEELA, and the two companies will showcase the latest AFEELA technology at CES on January 7.

4K and 5K OLED displays

Of course, OLED displays have been around for a while. They deliver rich blacks, incredibly fast pixel response, and huge dynamic range. But it still feels like they haven’t quite achieved that, especially when it comes to gaming, as they don’t offer all the sizes and resolutions like their LCD brethren.

Things have changed now. Manufacturers include Samsung, ASUSand MSI A 27-inch 4K OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate has been released (these displays are based on Samsung’s QD-OLED panels). LG will also launch new OLED models at CES, including futuristic, bendable 45-inch display, 5K resolution.

Overall, CES is a premier event for monitors and TVs of all shapes and sizes, and we’re sure to see some surprises, especially from heavyweights like Samsung and LG. Last year, LG brought a Transparent OLED TV unveiledit’s one of the most exciting gadgets we saw at CES 2024.

Lenovo Rescuer GO S and GO 2

It’s far from a given, but Lenovo is working on rumor Presented at CES 2025 with the new Lenovo Legion GO gaming handheld device.

According to reports, this guy will have a successor (or three) at CES 2025.

The original Lenovo Legion GO launched in September 2023 and was a serious competitor to the likes of the Nintendo Switch and Valve’s Steam Deck, especially because of its beautiful 8.8-inch display.

Now, Lenovo is rumored to be launching a more affordable model, the Lenovo Legion GO S, and (possibly) an upgraded version of the original handheld, the Lenovo Legion GO 2. Rumor has it that it will release with Steam Deck for SteamOS instead of Windows.

According to reports, the Lenovo GO S will feature an 8-inch, 1,920 x 1,200 pixel LED display and an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go chip. The Lenovo GO 2 should feature a more powerful AMD Z2 Extreme chip, as well as a slightly larger 8.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels.

Nvidia’s new graphics card

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang will deliver the central keynote at this year’s CES, and the company is widely expected to unveil a slew of new graphics cards, including RTX 50 Series GPU.

If you’re not a gamer (I haven’t played in a while), you probably don’t care much about gaming hardware. But Nvidia’s major graphics cards are always big news, not just because they’ll power beautiful next-gen games, but because they (usually) set the benchmark for personal use graphics cards.

Rumor has it that the RTX 5090 will be 50% more powerful than the RTX 4090, which is currently the most powerful graphics card you can buy for your PC. If true, this would not only unlock new levels of gaming performance, but also pave the way for new artificial intelligence and scientific applications.

This Weird ‘Emotional Support Artificial Intelligence Robot’

Still don’t know how to wash dishes?

A company called Mixi is about to show off Romi Lacatan, a cute little gadget that’s described as a “handheld emotion support artificial intelligence robot.” Apparently, this little guy can hold complex conversations on the fly and remember what you’ve said before. It won’t just talk; the robot will also have hand gestures (meaning physical rattles and turns) and facial expressions (on a built-in LCD display). Still doesn’t sound quite like a robot, but it could certainly be one of those things that steals the show One of the gadgets at the International Consumer Electronics Show.
