Ugreen Uno Review – MacRumors
Ugreen caught my attention earlier this year when it launched its new line of “Uno” accessories that feature LED screens that display fun emojis. The Uno range has everything from wireless chargers to power banks, and I spent several months testing these products to see how they performed.
Ugreen said that all products in the Uno series have a “robot-inspired” aesthetic design, which is equivalent to a boxy style, with LED screens that can display emoji faces. The emoticons are fun and bring some fun to a normally boring accessory, but they’re also useful and can change based on power level and other factors.
Ugreen Uno Magnetic Wireless Power Bank
Priced at $45, Magnetic wireless power bank At first glance, it looks no different from many other power banks on the market, with a rectangular design that echoes the shape of the power bank. iPhone. However, the LED screen and an additional stand that looks like a pair of headphones set it apart.
This power bank is made of smooth metal plastic material with a soft silicone back that can be magnetically attached to the power bank. magnetic security iPhone. It feels relatively light, but is a little over 3/4-inch thick, so it does add to the bulk of the iPhone. It comes in black (which looks similar to Apple’s Space Black) and light purple shades. Although it’s a bit thick, it’s pocket-friendly and measures 4.2 inches x 2.8 inches. The plastic feels a bit cheap, but it’s lightweight and I didn’t expect much for the price.
The LED display is slightly protruding, which does give it a decidedly robotic look, and it often displays emojis that correspond to power levels. I say “often” because many times, it actually shows a percentage reading of the exact power level. I don’t know what triggers the emoji face to appear, I wish there was a button to toggle between the power percentage and the face.
When the power bank is connected to your iPhone, you need to press the side button to turn on the power bank to start charging. More than once I’ve connected it to my iPhone and forgotten to activate it, but the sleep mode seems to preserve battery power when not in use. This button also has other functions. Press it once to turn on the LCD, and press it twice to turn it off.
When the power is turned on, it will display a “Hi” message, and when the power is turned off, it will display a “bye” message. The emoticons displayed change based on the power level. At 100%, the face shows heart eyes, and at 99% to 80%, the face turns into a happy face with smiling eyes. Between 79 and 21 percent saw a happy face with a more neutral eye expression, while 20 percent or less saw a sad face. Each face moves slightly, and the position of the eyes and mouth changes.
This is a Qi2 charger, so it can charge your MagSafe iPhone at up to 15W. 15W is no longer the maximum charging speed because iphone 16 Model supports 25W MagSafe charging, but is equivalent to the original 15W MagSafe charging. It has a 10,000mAh capacity, which is standard for small chargers today.
During an hour-long test, it charged me iPhone 16 Pro The maximum battery capacity increased from 1% to 39%, with 67% of the battery remaining. After charging my iPhone to 80% (the maximum I set), the power bank still had 20% left.
I’ve tested it several times and I was able to reliably charge the 16 Pro Max from a power bank and didn’t encounter any issues during my testing. My iPhone does get warm from time to time, but this happens with any MagSafe power bank I use.
In addition to Qi2 charging, there’s a USB-C port that can be used to charge iPhones and other accessories, as well as a power bank. The USB-C port is 20W, so you can charge your iPhone faster using a USB-C to USB-C cable (included) or a USB-C to Lightning cable, depending on which iPhone model you have. 20W can also be charged iPad At a reasonable speed, but not fast enough for fast charging. Supports pass-through charging, so you can charge your power bank via USB-C and charge a connected iPhone at the same time.
There is a stand on the power bank that flips down from the top. It holds your iPhone in the ideal position video call Make phone calls or watch videos, and it’s sturdy. The stand has multiple positions so the viewing angle is adjustable and can be used in landscape or portrait mode. When not in use, it folds on top of the power bank and looks like a pair of headphones.
Ugreen Uno 30W power bank
$38 10,000mAh Ugreen Uno USB-C Power Bank The design is similar to the magnetic wireless power bank, but it does not have wireless charging function. Instead, it offers 30W charging via USB-C and has a built-in USB-C cable.
All the emoji faces are the same, as is the build quality, but the power bank is slightly thinner and taller, at 4.6 inches x 2.8 inches. This model is a little over half an inch thick and does not magnetically attach to the iPhone.
Although it has a headphone-like design on the top, there is no stand. Instead, there’s a power button on the side of the “headphones” that turns the power bank on and off.
In addition to the built-in USB-C cable, there are additional USB-C and USB-A ports on the top so you can charge multiple devices at the same time. The flat USB-C cable tucks into a slot on the back of the charger and feels well connected. I can’t get it to move by pulling on it, but there’s always the danger of the connecting cable breaking.
30W is fast charging for an iPhone, and during testing my iPhone 16 Pro Max charged from 1% to 54% in 30 minutes, which is consistent with fast charging tests using a standard 30W power adapter. I was able to fully charge the power bank before the battery ran out.
Since it has a built-in USB-C cable, this model is best suited for iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models with USB-C ports, but since it has additional USB-C and USB-A ports, it can also be used with a Lightning cable.
For fast charging, the USB-C Uno Power Bank is a better choice than the Qi2 model, and it’s nice not to have to carry around a USB-C cable.
100W USB-C charger
Euglin’s $48 100W USB-C Uno Charger Probably my favorite, it has the most robot-like design. It’s a square charger but has an LED display that shows emojis, a headphone-like band at the top, and a set of pins at the bottom that cover the plug.
The legs are removable so you can plug the Uno charger into an outlet, and because of the placement of the prongs, it’s best suited as a desktop charger. If you plug it into a standard wall outlet, the front will face up or down, but it can definitely be used that way. I haven’t lost the little feet yet, and they do have a magnet inside that keeps them attached to the laptop when the charger is plugged in if I’m using it on the road.
The charger is surprisingly compact and heavy, and is made from the same black plastic material as the power bank.
When plugged in, the LCD monitor remains active. I left the charger on my desk and it flashed in front of me all day. It can be annoying if you have this in your sights. When the thing is charging, three faces will appear, one with glowing eyes and one with eating. When the device is fully charged, a face wearing sunglasses will appear.
There are four ports on the top of the charger, including three USB-C ports and 1 USB-A port. Since this is a 100W charger, it can charge a 16-inch mobile phone MacBook Pro and anything below that. To get the fastest charging speeds (full 100W) with a MacBook Pro, you need to plug it into one of the top two ports alone.
When multiple devices are charging, power is distributed among the ports. When two devices are plugged in, the power split is 65W/30W for the USB-C port and 65W/22.5W for 1 USB-C and 1 USB-A port.
The three-port split has 45W/30W/20W, 45W/30W/22.5W and 80W/7.5W/7.5W options, while the four ports used will split the power into 45W/30W/7.5W/7.5W. The manual that comes with the charger provides more specific information on how to distribute power to each port.
Ugreen says the charger has overvoltage, overcurrent, overload and temperature protection, and I didn’t have any problems using the charger.
have There is also a 65W version Available in white/purple and blue/pink shades, it’s nice to see an option in non-standard black.
USB-C cable
Ugreen has $8 Uno USB-C to USB-C 100W PD cable It has little emoji eyes on it and is a good companion for the 100W charger. It’s braided nylon and feels like a premium cable.
The basic cable is 1.6 feet, but there are more expensive 3.3-foot, 6.6-foot, and 10-foot models. For data transfer, it supports speeds up to 480Mb/s.
2-in-1 wireless charger
Ugreen’s $49 Uno 2-in-1 wireless charger is also Qi2 and supports charging up to 15W on MagSafe iPhones. It has a foldable design with a charging tray for iPhone and a second 5W charging space for iPhone. AirPods Pro. The iPhone charger can be adjusted to different angles, and the iPhone can be placed in landscape or portrait mode, so you can use it on standby.
The boxy 2-in-1 wireless charger looks similar to other Uno products and is made of the same black plastic material. It has an LCD screen on the front and a headphone-style design on the top. The face isn’t as vivid as other models, but it does show two happy eyes when on and in standby mode, and a happy face with a mouth when the device is charging.
The Ugreen comes with a USB-C cable that plugs into the back, but you’ll need to supply your own power adapter. You can also buy an optional Apple Watch charger and add it to the side, so you can charge three devices at the same time.
The charger is relatively compact, so it doesn’t take up much space at all on your desk, but it’s heavy so it won’t tip over.
1 x 6-in-1 hub
The final product of the Ugreen Uno series is 6-in-1 USB-C hubwhich is $18. It’s a cheap hub but can be used for pass-through charging and connecting accessories to your Mac. Design-wise, it features the same black plastic that Ugreen uses in most of its Uno range, as well as an LCD panel that displays animations of different emojis.
The hub’s build quality feels cheap and I’m not impressed. It’s made from the same plastic as Ugreen’s other products, but the hub feels light, almost flimsy. The emoji faces aren’t very useful on the hub either, with just separate idle and charging faces.
There are three USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and an HDMI port that supports up to 4K/60Hz. It offers 85W pass-through charging for Mac, and 15W can be used to connect peripherals. 85W is generally good for all Mac laptops, but you won’t get the maximum charging speed for the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
I’m having some issues with data transfer using this hub, the transfer stops in the middle. I don’t know why, but multiple ports are affected. I suspect this is an issue with all models, but I don’t like the size or practicality of this hub, and I think there are better options out there.
bottom line
If you’re looking for an accessory that will bring more fun to your desk than a standard power adapter or power bank, I think Ugreen’s Uno series is well worth a try. I particularly liked the 100W USB-C charger and the Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Charger, although all but the hub performed well.
Ugreen’s Uno products also make fun gifts, and I think a power bank with a little emoji on it would be great for anyone with an iPhone. I do want to point out that the Qi2 charger appears to only work with iPhones, as some reviews have mentioned that it doesn’t work with Android devices.
