What if you need to manage a network of video cameras and store all the footage? Today’s power user not only manages a stunning trio of Mac Pro desktops, but also assembles stacks of high-capacity UniFi Network Video Recorders, known as UNVRs, to record and store video from multiple cameras, as well as multiple routers and switches.

  • 15 channels
  • Works with 60 video cameras.
  • 4 GB local memory and HDD/SDD support
Cons:

  • More suitable for corporate use than home use

Mac platform engineer and X.com user Mr. Mackintosh (@ClassicII_MrMac) highlighted Ridiculously powerful triple Mac Pro and uber server setup Friday on behalf of a private message from another user in the server group. He showed an alarmed emoji as the only comment on a photo of a setup featuring several Mac Pros with plenty of storage and connectivity (above) and an impressive list of equipment (below).

“I mean, if my parents had that kind of money, I’d have that attitude too,” one commenter joked.

“I’m guessing he’s looking for black holes or wants to prove the Riemann Hypothesis,” another commenter joked.

And a third suggested the killer must have had a serious purpose because it “goes beyond bragging rights.”

We asked what the user does with such a set of equipment, but have not yet received an answer. A setup with three 2019 Mac Pro desktops, including one with upgraded specs, is quite rare. Add Ubiquiti Networks Racks UNVR With large storage capacity, powerful routers, and Ethernet and Gigabit switches, it’s incredibly capable for tasks like high-volume video recording, video storage, and more. This is a setup that could, and probably does, serve as a control center for a network of video cameras. The post description mentions cameras.
