US senator wants to fine and jail those who use DeepSeek

The Chinese Ai Chatbot “Deepseek” has caused a lot of controversy in recent weeks. Although Deepseek was launched in 2023, it became popular after the introduction of the R1 model, which works as well as its competitors, using fewer resources. Nevertheless, Chinese AI can soon be prohibited in the United States – with fines and imprisonment for those who use it.

At least, this is what the Senator Senator Josh Hawley wants with a new bill filled out this week. According to the bill, the idea is to “prohibit the persons of the United States to promote the possibilities of artificial intelligence in the Chinese People’s Republic and for other people.”

For enterprises caught using the Chinese AIS, fines can reach $ 100 million.
