Fury weighed in on a stone heavier than Usyk…with clothes on
The Gypsy King took just seven seconds to finish his fight with Alexander Usyk at today’s weigh-in. It’s nowhere near the 11 minutes and 20 seconds of footage we saw during Thursday’s media conference.
Another surprise? Fury’s weight. He now weighs 281 pounds, the heaviest he has been in his career.
But British-Irish former professional boxer Matt McClean believes that doesn’t give a true reflection of what he will weigh tomorrow.
“I think you have to take At least Half a stone lighter, probably 10 pounds heavier,” McLean told Sky Sports Boxing. “He had a big coat, shoes, cell phone in his pocket, wallet, money… [that’s] At least 7 pounds. What is that? 274…273 pounds? I think this is probably his best fighting weight.
Beardgate scandal continues – Usyk files complaint again
The outrage over Tyson Fury’s facial hair continues. Team Usyk once again protested the length of Tyson’s beard after today’s weigh-in.
Usyk’s camp said the growth was a “serious violation” of the “beard rules” and they wanted it trimmed.
Are they wasting their time? Very likely. It’s hard to imagine that on the 50th anniversary of “The Jungle Book,” a multi-million dollar fight would be canceled because of a thick beard.
Anyway, get some sleep before rekindling…the anticipation is building.
