Wear OS Getting Some Sweet Features in 2025

Some reviews indicate new features that are expected to appear in the future. Wear OS users: Gemini as a replacement for Google Assistant and earthquake alerts.

Courtesy 9to5GoogleGoogle is still preparing Gemini to replace Assistant on Wear OS, with the code specifically mentioning: “Easily communicate to get more done with Assistant on your watch, reimagined with Google AI.” No one is yet sure what Gemini will offer over Assistant on Wear OS, but we’re at least expecting the same level of integration that Assistant already has.

Once launched, you’ll still be able to access your AI assistant using the “Hey Google” command, and ultimately the conversation between the user and Gemini should become more natural.

Dug up Android AuthorityIt looks like earthquake alerts will be coming to Wear OS, which is good timing given recent tectonic events. An update to Google Play Services could reportedly add potentially life-saving alerts to cellular-connected smartwatches, allowing those without a phone to receive alerts.

None of these features are live yet, but as soon as we know more or something becomes official from Google, we’ll let you know.
