
WhatsApp Rolls Out Calling Updates for Desktop and Mobile
WhatsApp has declare Ahead of the holidays, several improvements have been made to calling functionality on desktop and mobile platforms, such as the ability to select participants from group chats, use new effects in calls, and take advantage of higher-resolution video.
The ability to select specific participants when initiating a call from a group is intended to allow users to avoid disturbing the entire group, and may be useful for coordinating surprise events or private discussions within a larger group setting.
The update also brings ten new video effects, from playful puppy ears filters to underwater themes and karaoke microphone effects, to make calls more fun and engaging.
Additionally, WhatsApp said desktop users will benefit from a reorganized calling interface that should simplify the process of making calls, establishing call links, or dialing numbers directly from the desktop app. Finally, the Meta-owned company is also improving video call quality for one-on-one and group calls, whether users are connecting from a desktop or mobile device.
