According to recent analysis by Canalys, China’s PC market is expected to grow 6% by 2025, with strong public sector spending being a key factor.
in a new ReportThe analyst firm said it expects China’s PC market recovery to “sustain” in the next 12 months, especially for desktop computers and notebook computers, which will grow by 9% and 4% respectively.
But among the details of Canalys’ recent research, insights into little-known regional vendor ISoftStone stand out.
Who is iSoftStone?
Granted, I had never heard of iSoftStone before the Canalys report came out, but computer supplier It ranks second in shipments in the third quarter of 2024, which is of great significance in the face of fierce competition from major industry players.
iSoftStone provides technology products and services covering the enterprise and consumer sectors. Canalys’ report noted that the company achieved strong results in both the public sector and education markets in the third quarter of 2024, and its performance in the gaming PC segment also surprised.
Canalys found that the company has experienced rapid growth over the past two fiscal years. For example, in the third quarter of 2023, the company held only 4% of the regional PC market and shipped approximately 500,000 desktop and notebook computers.
Fast forward to the third quarter of 2024, and the numbers are impressive, with iSoftStone holding 10% of the market and shipping more than 1.1 million units, a growth rate of 123% according to Canalys.
All in all, this meteoric rise has put it on par with Huawei in terms of market share and leading in both categories HP and ASUS. It still lags behind Lenovo, but this year’s growth rate suggests the company shows no signs of slowing down.
iSoftStone: What’s behind its rapid rise?
According to Canalys, a key factor in this impressive growth is the ongoing changes in the PC market across the region. The sector has undergone “significant shifts” since 2023 – and the “growing influence” of domestic suppliers has been a key topic.
Canalys said the government’s push for “new creation”, or independent innovation, “creates a favorable environment for domestic suppliers to flourish”.
Strong growth in the gaming PC segment may also be a leading factor, with this specific segment recording 24% growth in the third quarter of 2024.
“Despite the general market downturn, high-value PCs with artificial intelligence or gaming capabilities have remained resilient due to rising expectations for a strong user experience,” Canalys analyst Emma Xu said.
