Windows 11 24H2 breaks audio and Auto HDR, update blocked on affected PCs
As the end of the year approaches, October’s Windows 11 24H2 update is still causing trouble for users. Microsoft has confirmed two new issues and is reportedly newwinone of which broke the audio output and the other broke Auto HDR.
The audio issue occurred on a computer “from one manufacturer” (Microsoft did not elaborate further) Which Manufacturer) with Dirac Audio and cridspapo.dll
which processes audio for improved clarity and precision. This bug causes Windows 11 to no longer be able to output sound to integrated speakers, Bluetooth speakers, headphones, and other audio devices. There is currently no solution for those affected.
Another confirmed issue involves a bug in Auto HDR, a Windows 11 system feature that Automatically convert SDR visuals to HDR to improve the experience. This bug can cause glitches ranging from incorrect colors to complete crashes, and the only workaround currently is to disable the Auto HDR feature entirely.
Microsoft has since blocked the availability of Windows 11 24H2 on all affected systems, and the block will be lifted once the bug is fixed.
You can learn more about these issues by checking out Microsoft’s official support announcement: “Some devices with Dirac Audio and cridspapo.dll may lose audio output” and”Auto HDR may cause the game to stop responding or display incorrect colors.“
