- Windows 11 24H2 has a new bug that breaks audio output
- This is caused by the Dirac Audio software and is being fixed.
- Microsoft has blocked updates for PCs running Dirac
Latest major updates Windows 11, 24H2 versionencountered another problem, namely audio output problem – or lack of audio output.
This is a bug that will corrupt the sound output of the affected computer, so you will not hear anything through the built-in speakers, or Bluetooth Speakers or Headphones – This is a rather annoying development.
Microsoft The failure has been confirmed in the Known Issues list of the publish health dashboard Windows 11 24 hours and 24 minutes, and another recently discovered issue related to the Auto HDR feature This causes colors to appear incorrectly in the game.
The software giant explains that the sound error is related to the Dirac Audio software (and its cridspapo.dll file), which is designed to make your audio clearer. Microsoft tells us that the issue has affected “a limited number of devices from one manufacturer,” but unfortunately doesn’t tell us which vendor.
Regardless, to work around the bug, Microsoft has set up a temporary update block that prevents the 24H2 update from being installed. The policy, which Microsoft calls “Compatibility Protection Hold,” is a way to ensure updates aren’t delivered to devices that will experience issues.
The current playback status of this audio glitch
Currently, there is no solution for this issue, so if you have upgraded to 24H2 and suddenly experience a silent computer situation, there is nothing you can do.
The good news is that Microsoft is working directly with Dirac to release a new version of the audio software to solve this problem. When Dirac launches new drivers, Microsoft will transfer them to PCs via Windows Update. Once the issue is resolved, the upgrade block will be lifted – users with Dirac Audio installed will be able to get the 24H2 update.
This bug only affects version 24H2, so if you are using an earlier version e.g. Windows 11 23H2you should be fine. You can read more about this audio glitch Microsoft official documentation.
Interestingly, this isn’t the only audio-related issue we’re seeing in Windows 11 24H2. Another bug that popped up causes some computers to play sounds at maximum volume without warning – so it’s the polar opposite of this new glitch – and Microsoft is still trying to implement a solution for this.
I think Windows 11 definitely got a bunch of bugs with the 24H2 update, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before – Windows 10 It encountered many problems at different stages of its existence.
However, soon after Windows 10 In fact, the life cycle of Windows 11 will end in October next year, and Microsoft will have to continue to improve and hone Windows 11 to convince more people to switch to Windows 11. With any luck, this string of terrible Windows 11 bugs will come to an end sooner or later.
