Worst in Show CES 2025 awards chosen by Repair Association
The technology show, held annually in Las Vegas, is the traditional kickoff to the new technology year. But as well as remarkable achievements, missteps can also be revealing.
It’s not all about the glamour, glitz and titanium shine. There are also brick bats to contend with…
Well, the Renovation Association’s worst picks for CES 2025″ include a luxury smart ring (from Ultrahuman), an AI-powered washing machine (), and an AI-powered in-vehicle commerce ecosystem (from SoundHound).
But seriously, from a security point of view, the “Least Secure” router received the award: TP-Link Archer BE900.
As the awards highlight: “The Worst in Show awards highlight a critical question for technology companies: Do your products truly make lives better, or simply increase waste, costs and controls?”
For example, the winner in the “Least Private” category was Bosch and its Revol Smart Crib model.
The judge was Cindy Kohn, executive director of the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation).
The verdict states: “Playing on parents’ fears, Revol Smart Crib collects redundant data on babies using a camera, microphone and even radar. Parents expect safety and comfort, not surveillance and privacy risks, in their children’s cribs.”
