YouTube takes action against clickbait videos, starting in its biggest market

Basically, clickbait is online content that uses sensational or misleading headlines to attract clicks. It can be very annoying when a title or thumbnail makes a bold promise that the film fails to deliver, especially when it comes to breaking news or current events. This type of deception can leave viewers feeling cheated, frustrated, or misled, especially when they turn to YouTube for timely, important updates. You may have encountered some of these situations yourself, such as the video titled “The President Resigns!” — only to discover that the film didn’t mention the president’s resignation at all.

YouTube hasn’t yet clarified how it plans to define “news” or “current events.” For example, does breaking news only apply to politics and government, or does it also apply to sporting events?
